Reader Workshop:

This week we will continue to build on the idea about what readers do as we take a look at Book Talks! Students will also learn how to give a Book Talk as they continue to use strong academic vocabulary while speaking. 

Thursday, September 3 : Students will take their first 60% assessment over what good readers do. They will respond through their writing about how readers are thinkers, readers think about certain characteristics within a story, readers must use correct etiquette while speaking, and readers use strong academic vocabulary to express their ideas. 

Interactive Read Aloud: Junkyard Wonders

Writing Workshop:

This week we will learn about what Writing Workshop looks like. We will also begin to look at Author's Craft and what authors do in their writing, and they types of vivid sentences they use to convey their thoughts. 

Students will also continue to learn about cursive movements as we step more into cursive.

Week: August 24 - August 28

Reading Workshop: 
This week we will dive into curriculum! Students will learn about how Reading is THINKING! We will discuss Reading vs. Fake Reading. Students will also begin to learn how to discuss what they are reading while thinking deeper about texts. They will begin to share their thoughts with others while learning how to speak about texts.

Interactive Read Aloud: Better Than You

Writing Workshop:
This week we will take a look at our cursive books and learn proper hand movements associated with cursive. Students will also use their texts to take a look at strong sentences for our Grammar Talks. 

Mrs. Spencer our librarian will join us this week also to show students more resources about how to access books through Destiny on the district website.
